Boots on and walk straight from your door, many easy circular routes over green fields, along quiet country lanes and towpaths. Take in places of historical interest such as Boscobel House and the famous royal oak tree were King Charles II hid. Chillington Hall, White Ladies Priory. Have a drink or meal at one of the several inns depending on route. Then there is always Cannock Chase, or the beautiful Shropshire Hills. Bird watching. The marsh area of the reservoir attracts a diverse collection of birds, from buzzards to long tailed tits. The tawny and barn owls may keep you awake at night. The 220 acres of water known as Belvide Reservoir is an SSSI site/ bird reserve. You will need more than a week to even begin to see what this area as to offer. The cottages are surrounded by many attractions in Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West midlands all within an easy driving distance.. Eating Out Despite being in such a quite location there are many varied places where you can wine and dine. One mile from the cottages :- The Bell Inn a traditional Ham and Egg speciality. The Bradford Arms traditional pub with food. Cafe India eating in or take away. (Busy roads not suitable for walking to) One and a Half miles from the cottages :- The Royal Oak and The New Inns both have home made food and are in easy walking distance. Two Miles from cottages :- The Spread Eagle at Gailey also Dobbies garden centre. Brewwod Village have pubs and eating places. Wheaton Aston Village have pubs that serve food. Four Miles away :- Penkridge Village with pubs and hotels with restaurants. Indian, Chinese and Fish and Chips something for every taste.
